Residents work for the superintendent or a senior executive in a reform-oriented urban school district or charter management organization (CMO). We often place Residents in districts where superintendents are graduates of The Broad Superintendents Academy. Select CMOs with 3+ schools in 2007 were invited to apply to host Residents. Placement is not a one-sided decision. The full application contains a list of potential districts and CMOs which candidates are asked to choose from and rank according to preference. The initial choice is based on geography. Throughout the selection process, however, we provide specific position-related information and work with candidates regarding their choice of placement(s).
