Associate Resident Criteria
The following information only applies if
you currently work in a district, charter
management organization, or federal/state department of
education.
Candidate Criteria
A major focus of The Broad
Residency’s professional development is to help participants transition
into their new role in education. Therefore,
candidates currently working in a district, charter
management organization, or federal/state department of education can
apply only if they have been in their organization for less
than one year by the time they join the program (i.e.
candidates cannot have been employed by their organization prior to
June 2011). In addition, in alignment with our mission to
improves education systems for broader
impact, candidates must be in a role that impacts multiple
schools.
These candidates, if
accepted, are called Associate Residents. They are held to the same
standards and receive the same support, training, resources,
etc as Broad Residents. Since these candidates enter
the program with a position already, The Broad Residency plays no role
in determining their salary or initial placement.
Organization Criteria
Each year, The
Broad Center identifies a select number of organizations from which
we will invite Associate
Resident applications. These organizations must meet our
general partner organization eligibility criteria. Associate Resident
partnership is often based upon mission related
priorities of The Broad Center (geographic location, prior/current
Residency placements with the organization, general partner
organization
criteria,
etc).

Associate
Resident Selection Process
Thank you for your interest in this program and the impact you currently make.
Associate Residents go
through the same process (resume, application, and two rounds of
interviews) as on the website. However, the timing
of the selection process for Associate Residents is different than what
is posted.
Below is the process for
Associate Residents:
-
Full applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until: February 13, 2012.
-
Decisions are communicated via email within 3 weeks of receiving the application.
-
1st Round Interviews (all done by phone) begin the last week of March, 2012.
- Regardless of when you submit your application, 1st Round Interviews will not occur any sooner. -
2nd Round Interview Day (a full day of interviews) occurs on April 26, 2012 in Los Angeles.
We created this separate
process to improve our ability to assess Associate Residents and more
effectively compare them to one another.
Thank you for your interest in this program and the impact you currently make.
