Matthew Hill, graduate of The Broad Residency Class of 2005-2007, joined the Los Angeles Unified School District in early January as the district’s new Administrative Officer in the Office of the Superintendent. Hill previously worked for the Oakland Unified School District as the Executive Officer for Strategic Projects and in this role he oversaw the District’s strategic planning process and helped manage the strategic projects for the district. In his new role, Hill is responsible for supporting the series of initiatives aimed at increasing parent and community engagement and giving teachers more data about their students to help improve instruction. In the face of California’s budget crisis, Hill’s efforts are primarily focused on restructuring to meet budget cuts in an effort to implement an accountability and support system for schools in the District. Hill participated in The Broad Residency in Urban Education Cohort 2005, serving his two-year Residency in Oakland Unified School District.
