Melissa Megliola Zaikos currently manages the Autonomous Management and Performance Schools (AMPS) program for Chicago Public Schools. In this role, she serves as the line supervisor for 117 schools that have been granted increased autonomy by the school district.  Zaikos was also the original manager and one of the authors of Chicago’s High School Transformation Effort, a 10+ year effort to look at overall high school reform. She has also led district projects in new schools, special education, community revitalization and labor relations. During her Residency, Zaikos served the district in the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to joining the Residency, Zaikos served as a manager at Deloitte Consulting, where she worked on strategic planning and operational improvement projects for a variety of consumer packaged goods, financial services and retail clients. Zaikos also serves on the boards of Cristo Rey High School and Harvard Business School Club of Chicago. Zaikos holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University and a master’s of business administration from Harvard Business School.  Zaikos participated in The Broad Residency in Urban Education Cohort 2003, serving her two-year Residency in Chicago Public Schools.
